Notice of Informational Public Meeting

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) and the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) will host two Design Public Meetings for the America’s River Crossing on I-55 over the Mississippi River Bridge Replacement Project (Project). The Proposed Project will replace the existing I-55 bridge located between Crittenden County, Arkansas and Shelby County, Tennessee. The proposed Project limits begin just west of I-55 Exit 12 (E.H. Crump Boulevard) in Tennessee and extend to just east of I-55 Exit 1 (Bridgeport Road) in Arkansas, a total of approximately 1.6 miles. The proposed Project alignment is a result of an effort to minimize adverse human and environmental impacts and to provide a facility able to serve transportation needs into the future.

Due to Project design refinements, an environmental re-evaluation document is being prepared to update analyses from prior National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation. Pursuant to 23 CFR § 771.129(c), a re-evaluation is required when project modifications have the potential to affect previous determinations of environmental impacts.

Proposed design changes, anticipated construction-related closure and detour information, changes to impacts to the E.H. Crump Park potentially resulting in Section 4(f) De Minimis determination, and additional project information and updates will be available at each of the Design Public Meetings. Comments concerning design refinements and anticipated construction-related closures and detours and other information presented should be submitted in writing to TDOT within 21 days after the second public meeting for this Project at the address provided below. Comments must be postmarked on or by October 7, 2026.

The Design Public Meetings will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. CT at the following locations:

Tuesday, September 15, 2026 Wednesday, September 16, 2026

Radisson Hotel West Memphis Central Station Hotel Memphis

2007 South Service Road 545 South Main Street

West Memphis, AR 72301 Memphis, TN 38103

These meetings will be held to provide the public an opportunity to review the latest Project information and provide comments. The same information will be presented at each meeting. Information shared at these meetings will also be published and made available online as part of a virtual public meeting on the project website: http://tn.gov/tdot/projects/region-4/americas-river-crossing-i55-bridge.html. The virtual public meeting will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from September 15 through October 7, 2026, and will offer the same information and opportunities to participate and provide feedback as the in-person meetings.

The meetings will be in person and will follow an open-house format with no formal presentations. The public is welcome to visit any time during the scheduled hours to view exhibits, ask questions and offer comments. TDOT representatives will be available to provide information on various aspects of the proposed Project. Anyone with questions regarding the meeting should contact:
