Germantown’s Fourth of July celebration kicks off Wednesday, July 4, with a 9 a.m. fishing rodeo at Municipal Park Lake, 1900 S. Germantown Road. Municipal Park is also the setting for live entertainment, concessions, games, rides and crafts starting at 5 p.m., followed by fireworks at 9:10 p.m. Admission is free. The first-place Memphis Redbirds begin a five-game homestand vs. Omaha (Kansas City Royals) Wednesday, July 4, with a 6:35 p.m. game at AutoZone Park, 200 Union Ave. There will be postgame fireworks. The series continues Thursday and Friday at 7:05 p.m., Saturday at 6:35 p.m. (again with postgame fireworks) and at Sunday at 2:05 p.m. Visit memphisredbirds.com or call 901-721-6000.

Mud Island River Park’s Independence Day Fireworks Spectacular is Wednesday, July 4, from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Mud Island, 125 N. Memphis Botanic Garden hosts 30 Thursdays: Zen and Zinfandel July 5, at 6 p.m. at 750 Cherry Road. The first Thursday of each month features a yoga session led by Sumits Yoga in one of MBG’s gardens – always with a glass of wine nearby. Bring your own yoga mat and beverage. The Metal Museum will host Whet Thursday: Military Appreciation Night on Thursday, July 5, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 374 Metal Museum Drive. Active military and civilians alike are welcome to enjoy family-friendly yard games, music, a scavenger hunt for prizes, food trucks and a gallery talk at 6 p.m. Cost is free. Visit metalmuseum.org.

Dixon Gallery & Gardens hosts Food Truck Friday July 6 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 4339 Park Ave. Pick up lunch from an on-site food truck or visit Dixon’s Park & Cherry Cafe. Admission to the gardens is free during the event. Visit dixon.org.

Memphis Botanic Garden will host an art reception for the Artists’ Link Garden Friends group exhibition Sunday, July 8, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at MBG, 750 Cherry Road.
