Community LIFT will host three Empowerment Fund grant information sessions to discuss the microgrants available to fund community-support projects in under-resourced Memphis neighborhoods. Individuals and groups interested in apply must attend a session:

• Monday, July 2, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Crosstown Concourse, 1350 Concourse Ave., suite 434

• Monday, July 2, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library, 3030 Poplar Ave.

• Monday, July 9, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis, 1900 Union Ave.

Grant applications are due July 27. Visit communitylift.org for details.

The Orpheum Summer Movie Series continues with “Independence Day” Tuesday, July 3, at 7 p.m. at The Orpheum, 203 S. Main St. Doors open at 6 p.m. for activities in the lobby, including a drink special and photo booth with movie-themed props and quotes. Costumes are encouraged but never required. Adult tickets are $8; children 12 and younger are $6. Visit orpheum-memphis.com.

The first-place Memphis Redbirds begin a five-game homestand vs. Omaha (Kansas City Royals) Wednesday, July 4, with a 6:35 p.m. game at AutoZone Park, 200 Union Ave. There will be postgame fireworks. The series continues Thursday and Friday at 7:05 p.m., Saturday at 6:35 p.m. (again with postgame fireworks) and at Sunday at 2:05 p.m. Visit memphisredbirds.com or call 901-721-6000.

Mud Island River Park’s Independence Day Fireworks Spectacular is Wednesday, July 4, from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Mud Island, 125 N. Front St. Live music, rides, games and family-friendly activities begin at 6 p.m., and the fireworks display launches at 9:15 p.m. Visit downtownmemphis.com for details.

Memphis Botanic Garden hosts 30 Thursdays: Zen and Zinfandel July 5, at 6 p.m. at 750 Cherry Road. The first Thursday of each month features a yoga session led by Sumits Yoga in one of MBG’s gardens – always with a glass of wine nearby. Bring your own yoga mat and beverage. Dixon Gallery & Gardens hosts Food Truck Friday July 6 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 4339 Park Ave. Pick up lunch from an on-site food truck or visit Dixon’s Park & Cherry Cafe. Admission to the gardens is free during the event. Visit dixon.org.
