The Young Actors Guild Performing Arts Summer Camp presents “Broadway’s FAME Jr.” Thursday, July 19, at 7 p.m. at The Cannon Center for the Performing Arts, 255 N. Main St. Tickets are $22.50 in advance through Ticketmaster, at the Cannon Center or by calling 901-240-2103. Tickets at the door are $25; group rates are available.

The Orpheum Summer Movie Series continues with “Selena” Friday, July 20, at 7 p.m. at The Orpheum, 203 S. Main St. Doors open at 6 p.m. for activities in the lobby, including a drink special and photo booth with movie-themed props and quotes. Costumes are encouraged but never required. The Chris Hope Foundation hosts Cardio for a Cure Saturday, July 21, starting at 9 a.m. at Agricenter International, 7777 Walnut Grove Road. The annual event, formerly known as Sweating for St. Jude, raises money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Barnes & Noble Wolfchase hosts an urban fiction panel discussion and book signing Saturday, July 21 at 1 p.m. at the store, 2774 N. Germantown Parkway. Participating authors include Ellen Butterfly Allen, Lisa Austin, Mercy B., Tamera Denise Kelly, Krys King and Fidelis O. Mkparu. Wolf River Conservancy and Memphis Botanic Garden host “Tennessee Bats” Saturday, July 21, at 6:30 p.m. at MBG, 750 Cherry Road. Learn about the intriguing and important insect-eating bats that live in our area, how best to attract them, and why they need our help now more than ever, from bat expert Chris Grow.
