Memphis Heritage Inc. hosts a Preservation Posse: After Hours tour of the Frayser Bauhaus on Thursday, July 12, at 6:30 p.m. (doors and bar open 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.) at 3590 Thomas St. Stop by for a drink and barbecue, then learn about the restoration project from the experts making it happen. Memphis Botanic Garden hosts 30 Thursdays: Cocktails and Canvases July 12, at 6 p.m. at 750 Cherry Road. The Plein Air (outdoor) painting class takes place the second Thursday of each month during 30 Thursdays and uses one of MBG’s 31 gardens as a background. The Young Actors Guild Performing Arts Summer Camp presents “Disney’s The Jungle Book” Thursday, July 12, at 7 p.m. at Buckman Performing Arts Center, 60 Perkins Road Extended. Pink Palace Museum hosts Family Science Night: Earth and Space Friday, July 13, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the museum, 3050 Central Ave. Gaze through telescopes on the lawn with the Memphis Astronomical Society; explore outer space in the AutoZone Dome Sharpe Planetarium; participate in hands-on activities and experiments; speak to local scientists; and enjoy local food trucks. True Gospel Church of Deliverance hosts its 2018 Gospel Rap Explosion Saturday, July 14, at 3 p.m. at 2423 Point Church Ave. The free event aims to spread a message of peace and hope to combat violence in the community. It will feature live entertainment by TJR, Preacher Man and more, plus free food and drinks. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
