A popular Midtown restaurant may soon have a second location in South Main.

Initial plans for a second Slider Inn were approved by the Memphis Landmarks Commission at its Thursday, Sept. 28 meeting, clearing the way for the project to move forward.

Located at 363 Mulberry St., on the northwest corner of Mulberry and Talbot Street in the South Main Historic Arts District, the new Slider Inn will occupy around 2,900 square feet in a single-story brick building that was the former home of a vintage automobile storage and service garage.

The plans submitted to the Office of Planning and Development also call for the renovation of the lot to the immediate rear of the restaurant into an covered outdoor patio that will include large overhead doors.

Additionally, a public art installment is slated for the main entry off of Talbot.

Greg Price with archimania was tapped to handle the design work, while Aldo Dean of Packed House Productions is listed as the owner.

In addition to the original Slider Inn, located near the corner of Peabody Avenue and Cooper Street in Midtown Memphis, Dean is also the owner and operator of several other popular local restaurants, including Bardog Tavern and two Aldo’s Pizza Pies locations.
