Morris Auction Group will facilitate an auction of surplus Shelby County Schools assets Friday, July 21, at 9 a.m. at 1384 Farmville Road. More than 1,100 item are for sale, including custodial and janitorial equipment; food services equipment; lawnmowers and weed trimmers; two Ford vans; and more. The Carpenter Art Garden will host an art show to celebrate its fifth anniversary Friday, July 21, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 295 Carpenter St. The show will feature artwork for sale by children from Binghampton and the local artists who’ve taught them. Attendees will also be able to tour Carpenter Art Garden properties. Admission is a $20 donation at the door; the event includes appetizers, beer and wine, and proceeds benefit the Carpenter Art Garden.

Church Health will host a Saturday Morning Unwind Session on July 22 at 9:30 a.m. in its meditation chapel at Crosstown Concourse, 1350 Concourse Ave. Unwind and refocus with mindfulness expert Greg Graber. Free and open to the public. Visit churchhealth.org/events for details.

The Metal Museum will hold an opening reception and gallery talk for L. Brent Kington’s “With Love, From Brent” exhibition Sunday, July 23 from noon to 2 p.m. at 374 Metal Museum Drive. Church Health Nutrition will kick off free community cooking classes Tuesday, July 25 (10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) and Thursday, July 27 (5 p.m. to 7 p.m.) at Crosstown Concourse, 1350 Concourse Ave. In each six-week series, participants learn how to make delicious and nutritious meals, and get to eat the meals made in class. Memphis Botanic Garden continues its 2017 Vine to Wine wine-tasting series with “It’s Wine-Thirty Somewhere!” Tuesday, July 25, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at MBG, 750 Cherry Road. Take your tastebuds on a tour around the world with wines from some of the hottest (and coolest) vacation spots. Tickets are $30 for members and $45 for nonmembers.
