100 North Main Sale Delayed Another Month

The fate of the tallest building in Memphis has been postponed for another month. Attorney Billy Moss announced that the foreclosure auction would be postponed until Wednesday, Aug. 16, on the steps of the Judge D'Army Bailey Courthouse, 140 Adams Ave. In 2015, IMH Memphis, the current owners, purchased the vacant building that was built in 1965 for $5 million. IMH Memphis subsequently took out a $2.8 million mortgage with New York-based Shadow Tree Capital Management LLC – the source of the delays in auctioning off the building.

Former Deputy Indicted for Trying to Kill Witness

Former Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeremy Drewery has been indicted by a federal grand jury for trying to hire someone to kill a witness in another federal court case. Before his termination, Drewery had been assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task Force.

Acting U.S. Attorney Larry Laurenzi announced the superseding indictment Friday, July 14.

Drewery had already been indicted in September for trying to extort money from an alleged drug dealer in August 2016 and the charges were amended this past March to included another allegation of extortion in 2013. The latest charge was added after the Sheriff’s Office received information, according to federal prosecutors, that Drewery had tried to hire someone to kill a witness in the first case.

Drewery is charged with two counts of Hobbs Act extortion, which involves the use of his official power, two counts of bribery and one count of solicitation to commit a crime of violence.

Aetna Teams Up With Mississippi Affiliated Health Network

The Mississippi Affiliated Health Network, an alliance of hospitals and more than 1,000 clinicians, has entered into an agreement with the insurance giant Aetna that will serve about 9,000 patients across Mississippi.

Aetna members already enrolled in a fully insured plan and who have seen a Mississippi Affiliated Health Network provider in the last 12 months automatically became part of the collaboration on Jan. 1. Those members are receiving the additional benefit of an integrated care delivery model that includes the tracking of metrics to achieve higher quality care and lower costs.

Aetna Mississippi market president Frank Ulibarri said the organization is pleased to work with the Mississippi Affiliated Health Network “to improve the quality of care for our members and to lower health care costs.”

The agreement is built around things like network clinicians being accountable for meeting key quality metrics, such as recommended cancer and diabetes screenings, in exchange for a percentage of savings achieved by improving outcomes while lowering costs. Over time, the level of accountability increases for network clinicians.

This type of arrangement is becoming more common as insurance carriers and provider networks across the country move to value-based care, a concept centered on aligning incentives for health care providers to reduce costs and improve quality.

The Mississippi Affiliated Health Network is a physician-led alliance of health care professionals working to improve health and increase value to patients, employers, and other health care consumers.

Dave & Buster’s Moving Forward With Memphis Location

Popular adult arcade/restaurant Dave & Buster’s is continuing construction work on its first Memphis location.

Property owner Brixmor Property Group has filed a building permit application to install a new roof on the future Dave & Buster’s at 2765 Wolfcreek Parkway, near Wolfchase Galleria.

North American Roofing Services Inc. is listed as the contractor on the $179,330 permit.

Brixmor announced in January that Dallas-based Dave & Buster's would become the entertainment anchor of The Commons of Wolfcreek when it opens in a 43,500-square-foot space formerly occupied by Sports Authority. The restaurant is aiming to open in the fourth quarter.
