The 2017 Cooper Young Festival kickoff party/poster unveiling will take place Thursday, Aug. 3, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Haizlip Studio, 2125 Central Ave. Be among the first people to see this year’s poster, designed by Rahn Marion, and enjoy live music, food, and beverage bars. The 2017 Film Prize: Memphis Festival takes place Friday through Sunday, Aug. 4-6. All top 10 films will screen as one block lasting about two hours multiple times throughout the weekend Malco Studio on the Square, 2105 Court Ave. After the screening, festival passholders will vote on their favorite, and the winners will be announced at an awards brunch Sunday. David Lusk Gallery will hold an opening reception for its “Price is Right” exhibition Friday, Aug. 4, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at DLG, 97 Tillman St. The installment, which runs through Aug. 24, features works all priced at $1,000 or less, by around 20 artists. Visit davidluskgallery.com.

Church Health, UT Health Science Center and Le Bonheur will present The Art of Dinner Friday, Aug. 4, at 6 p.m. in Church Health’s teaching kitchen at Crosstown Concourse, 1350 Concourse Ave. A local chef will guide participants through new, delicious dishes in this interactive cooking class. Memphis Botanic Garden will hold its family-friendly Firefly Glow Party on Friday, Aug. 4, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at MBG, 750 Cherry Road. Make yourself glow at the Illumination Station, make a firefly friend, visit the Glow Lab, and bring light-up toys for a dance party featuring music by Bridging Souls and an LED hoop performance. The Blvd will present Family Movie Night On The Lawn Friday, Aug. 4, at 7:30 p.m. at its Southwind campus, 8220 E. Shelby Drive.
