Indie Memphis’ Indie Wednesday film series continues with a screening of “Romeo is Bleeding” Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Crosstown Arts, 430 N. Cleveland St. The film depicts a young poet who transcends turf war violence in Richmond, California, by creating an urban adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet.” Admission is pay-what-you-can. Church Health Behavioral Health will present a free Mental Health First Aid USA training session Thursday, Aug. 17, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1350 Concourse Ave. Attendees will learn a five-step action plan to offer initial help to people demonstrating symptoms of a mental illness or a crisis, along with how to connect them with the appropriate professional, peer, social or self-help care. Tennessee Small Business Development Center will host a workshop titled “Getting Started in Government Contracting” Thursday, Aug. 17, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Renaissance Business Center, 555 Beale St. The workshop will help business owners understand the lay of the land and identify steps for doing business with the federal government.
