Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs, District 1 will present The Days of Summer, A Standard Flower Show, on Wednesday, June 1, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday, June 2, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Memphis Botanic Garden, 750 Cherry Road. The event will feature 60 floral designs, hundreds of horticultural entries, educational exhibits and artistic crafts. Admission is free to the public. Seventh annual Memphis Black Expo will be held Thursday through Monday, June 2-6, with a variety of events across Shelby County. Highlights include the June 2 conscious cinema & panel discussion; June 3 “Welcome to Memphis” reception; June 4 cultural festival & black business showcase, neo-soul food festival and youth empowerment conference; June 5 “Art of Fashion” party; and June 6 closing dinner. Memphis Italian Festival 2016 will be held Thursday through Saturday, June 2-4, in Marquette Park (corner of Mount Moriah and Park Avenue). The celebration of all things Italian will feature sit-down Italian meals and picnic dinners, cooking demos, bocce tournaments, wine races and more. The Orpheum Theatre Summer Movie Series kicks off with “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” on Thursday, June 2, at 7 p.m. at The Orpheum, 203 S. Main St. Pre-show fun starts at 6 p.m. with an appearance by Star & Micey, a selfie station and movie-themed drink special. Adult tickets are $8; children 12 and younger are $6. St. Elisabeth’s Episcopal Church will host its inaugural Community Day on Friday, June 3, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 6033 Old Brownsville Road. Organizations are invited to set up a table or tent and provide examples of your work or services. There is no setup charge, and admission is free.
