Tennessee’s sales tax holiday will take place Friday through Sunday, July 29-31. Shoppers can save nearly 10 percent on clothing, school and art supplies that cost $100 or less per item and computers that cost $1,500 or less. Germantown Community Theatre’s All Children’s Theatre will present “The Music Man Jr.” Friday, July 29, through Aug. 7 at GCT, 3037 Forest Hill-Irene Road. The Metal Museum will host the Cu in Summer student art showcase Friday, July 29, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the museum store gallery, 374 Metal Museum Drive. High school students who choose to sell the works they created in the Cu in Summer program will do so at the showcase. Visit metalmuseum.org.

Memphis College of Art will hold a reception for the 2016 Biennial Alumni Exhibition on Friday, July 29, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Hyde Gallery of the Nesin Graduate School, 477 S. The Booksellers at Laurelwood will hold a midnight release party for “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” on Saturday, July 30, from 10 p.m. to midnight at 387 Perkins Road Extended.
