Tennessee Department of Revenue will hold a free tax workshop for new businesses Thursday, Jan. 7, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Renaissance Center’s Memphis Training Room, 555 Beale St. Tax specialists from local and state agencies will provide information and answer questions on complying with registration and tax requirements. Belz Museum of Asian & Judaic Art will accept entries for its 12th annual Chinese New Year student art competition through Friday, Jan. 8, at 119 S. Main St. The theme is “Swing Into Adventure – Monkey.” Each entry should represent a portrait of a monkey as the New Year mascot, as well as Chinese symbolism. The Whitehaven Partnership Committee will meet Friday, Jan. 8, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Whitehaven branch library, 4120 Millbranch Road. Memphis School Guide will host a school choice fair Saturday, Jan. 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Union Grove Baptist Church, 2285 Frayser Blvd. Around 20 schools will be represented, including public, charter and private school options.
