Courtney Joins Vet Staff At Downtown Animal Hospital

Veterinarian Dr. Jackie Courtney has joined Downtown Animal Hospital, where she specializes in critical pet care, internal medicine and exotic animal medicine.
Courtney is coming on board as Downtown Animal Hospital is in the midst of several changes, including a relocation to Victorian Village and a new strategic partnership with The Pet Hospitals, a collective of local veterinary practices. The practice opened in its new, larger space at 660 Jefferson Ave. on Monday, Aug. 29, after moving out of its facility on North Third Street in the Pinch District.
Hometown: Sycamore, Illinois
Experience: 2015 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine; worked as an associate veterinarian for one year in a suburb of Philadelphia.
Family: Husband, Oliver (elementary school teacher); two dogs (Strudel and Praline); three cats (Ramona, Beezus, Rooster)
Favorite quote: “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

Activities you enjoy outside of work: Exploring Memphis (particularly the restaurant scene and live music), gardening, planning trips and traveling
What talent do you wish you had? I wish I knew how to play the piano. And had a great singing voice. Also being able to fly would be pretty neat.
Who has had the greatest influence on you and why? That is a three-way tie for my parents, my husband and my pets. They have all taught me the importance of a strong work ethic, relationships and having a good sense of humor.
What attracted you to The Pet Hospitals? The Pet Hospitals is such a unique network of highly skilled, compassionate people that collaborate daily. They value teamwork and practice the highest quality medicine while offering excellent customer service. It is a dream position!
What are your goals in your new position? My biggest goal is to continue becoming more involved in this awesome community through the development of relationships with my patients and their owners. I also am very excited to learn more about laser surgery and gain more dentistry experience.
What do you consider your greatest accomplishment? Graduating from Penn Vet – it was one of the best days of my life!
What do you most enjoy about your work? Getting to know patients and their families, working together with my colleagues on complicated cases, sending pets home healthy and happy, and of course, playing with kittens and puppies.
If you could give one piece of advice to young people, what would it be? Work hard and follow your own path. Don’t forget to have a good laugh once in a while.
Dr. Lindsey Brown has joined The Pet Hospitals as a veterinarian at the Houston Levee location. Brown graduated from Louisiana State University. Her areas of focus include preventative care, client education and feline medicine.
Dr. Raelyn Pirtle has joined The Pet Hospitals as a veterinarian at the Poplar Avenue location in East Memphis. Pirtle is a native Memphian, and her areas of interest and specialties are internal medicine, infectious diseases, oncology and diagnostic imaging.
Five Trustmark Bank branch managers in the Memphis region have received official title promotions: Antroya “Troy” Hawthorn has been promoted to assistant vice president at the Germantown branch. Hawthorn has been with Trustmark for eight years. Kimberlee Kee has been promoted to branch officer at the Collierville branch. Kee has been with Trustmark for 23 years. LeeAnn Govan has been promoted to branch officer at the Whitehaven branch. Govan has been with Trustmark for seven years. Shavonda Garrett has been promoted to branch officer at the Horn Lake branch. Garrett has been with Trustmark for seven years. And Tina Mitchell has been promoted to branch officer at the Arlington branch. Mitchell has been with Trustmark four years.
David A. Ratton has joined the Memphis law office of Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs LLP as an associate assigned to the firm’s Corporate & Securities Service Team. Ratton concentrates his practice in the area of general corporate, compliance, mergers and acquisitions, and commercial real estate transactions. He previously served as of counsel with Apperson Crump PLC.
Anna Condon has been appointed junior copywriter at inferno. As junior copywriter, Condon is responsible for working with the account and creative teams to develop copy for client campaigns, as well as demonstrate knowledge and application of the brand standards and brand voices of clients. Condon previously held internet marketing and creative internships at Crompton Collective and Vision Advertising in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Sarah Vaughan has joined Trezevant as communications coordinator. Prior to her new role at Trezevant, she served as art director for DeSoto Magazine and editor of Starkville’s Town and Gown Magazine. Sarah earned her undergraduate degree from the The Meek School of Journalism and New Media at The University of Mississippi in 2013.
