Montgomery Martin Contractors recently filed a $1 million construction permit for The Kitchen’s build-out as part of “the new core and shell building restaurant & retreat center at Shelby Farms.”
The farm-to-table restaurant opens later this year in a 5,000-square-foot space overlooking the expanded Patriot Lake, part of Shelby Farms’ $70 million Heart of the Park expansion.
The Kitchen Next Door’s 4,500-square-foot location at Crosstown Concourse opens in 2017.

Details: A new retail building is coming to Arlington. A recently filed $1.2 million building permit lists the project as “new commercial retail shell building at The Shops.” Texas-based Shop Companies is listed as the owner and tenant.
The Shops at Arlington Village, located at 5224 Airline Road, is a ground-up development anchored by Kroger. Other confirmed tenants include a Supercuts and a gas station, according to the Shop Companies’ website. Other deals are in process with UPS, GNC, Starbucks, Wendy’s and an unnamed urgent care facility.

Details: Construction of the largest solar facility in Tennessee kicked off on Earth Day – Friday, April 22 – with a groundbreaking ceremony hosted by the Department of the Navy, Silicon Ranch Corp. and the Tennessee Valley Authority.
Silicon Ranch Corp. is set to develop roughly 72 acres at Naval Support Activity Mid-South in Millington as well as 330 adjoining acres to generate a combined capacity of 68.5 megawatts. Once operational, the facility could power approximately 7,500 homes on a sunny day and will benefit TVA consumers, including NSA Mid-South. The facility will enable the Department of the Navy to meet critical energy and security goals while furthering Silicon Ranch’s and TVA’s commitment to renewable energy in the state.
The groundbreaking ceremony featured remarks by Millington Mayor Terry Jones; Steven R. Iselin, principal deputy assistant secretary of the Navy for energy, installations & environment; NSA Mid-South commanding officer Capt. David J. Bryson; Silicon Ranch president and CEO Matthew H. Kisber; and Van Wardlaw, TVA’s executive vice president of external relations.

The permit for “new construction” lists Lab Express as the owner and tenant and WB Construction as the contractor.
