A free Tuesday, April 26, showing of the movie “Purple Rain” at The Orpheum Theatre drew a capacity crowd that lined up on Beale between Main and Front streets hours before the screening. Orpheum CEO Brett Batteson said Prince’s management had contacted the theater about booking a date at the venue just days before the entertainer’s death.
