TruGreen is moving more than 300 Memphis-area employees and its corporate headquarters to a 65,000-square-foot space at the Forum II office building in East Memphis, the company announced Friday.

The new headquarters, which will eventually house up to 400 of TruGreen’s corporate associates, will be part of the three-building Forum Office Complex, situated at the intersection of Kirby Parkway and Poplar Avenue.

“We are excited about solidifying our presence in the Memphis community,” said David Alexander, TruGreen president and CEO, in a statement. “We want our headquarters to represent who we are as a company, and the Forum II is the ideal location.”

As part of TruGreen’s relocation, Hertz Investment Group, in conjunction with its architect, The Crump Firm, is undertaking significant exterior and interior improvements, which will be complete in the first quarter of 2016.

“From the beginning, TruGreen had a very clear vision which put their people at the center of this conversation,” said Ron Kastner, senior vice president of brokerage services with CB Richard Ellis Memphis.

“Our goal was to provide a setting that could become a top-notch headquarters location in the heart of Memphis,” Kastner said. “To have a strong national brand such as TruGreen choose Forum II as the place they want to be is phenomenal, and we are excited to be a part of this local success story.”

CBRE Memphis executive vice president Kelly Truitt and senior associate Michael Morgan of the CBRE Memphis Tenant Advisory Group represented TruGreen in the transaction. Kastner represented Hertz Investment Group.

TruGreen has been sharing space with The ServiceMaster Co., its former parent company, in the five-floor office building at 860 Ridgelake Blvd. TruGreen occupies one floor in the Ridgelake building as well as half a floor in a nearby three-story building.

The company previously said having TruGreen operations spread across two buildings wasn’t conducive to productivity and could create logistical problems for the business, one of the best-known brands in lawn care.

The move will also allow the company to be truly independent from ServiceMaster, which spun off TruGreen at the beginning of 2014. The company serves more than 1.8 million residential and commercial customers across the U.S. with lawn, tree and shrub care. Today, there are approximately 210 TruGreen branches in the U.S. and Canada, plus about 35 franchise locations.
