Sutton Joins Dixon Hughes Goodman

Giles Sutton recently joined Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP as a partner in the firm’s tax practice, where he will focus on issues pertaining to state and local tax.
Sutton, an established attorney and certified public accountant, brings more than 25 years of business tax experience, with a focus on state and local tax issues within the food and beverage, health care, transportation and energy industries.

Who has had the greatest influence on you and why? My father, because he taught me the value of persistence.

What attracted you to Dixon Hughes Goodman? The people at the firm and the opportunity the firm has in Memphis.

What are your goals in your new position? To build a consultative business tax practice in Memphis to service Memphis-based businesses.

What do you consider your greatest accomplishment? Being a positive influence in other’s lives.

What do you most enjoy about your work? Getting to know people, their businesses and helping create value.

If you could give one piece of advice to young people, what would it be? Be passionate about what you do!


Lori S. Gonzalez has been appointed vice chancellor of academic, faculty and student affairs at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Gonzalez joined UTHSC from the University of North Carolina General Administration, where she served as special adviser to the chief academic officer.

Martin F. Thompson has joined Fisher & Phillips LLP’s Memphis office as senior attorney. Thompson brings more than 35 years of management representation experience in labor and employment law. In his new role, he will practice all aspects of labor and employment law and labor relations.


Matt Brown has joined Visible Music College as operations and information technology manager. Brown moved to Memphis in 2010 to attend Visible and graduated in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in modern ministry.

Shannon Fuller has joined Memphis Veterinary Specialists as accountant. Fuller, a certified public accountant, will be responsible for handling payables and daily deposits, managing payroll and handling financial statement preparation and analysis.


Lauren McCown has joined Cushman & Wakefield/Commercial Advisors as senior real estate administrator. In her new role, McCown will assist in all aspects of property management, including tenant requests, vendor and tenant compliance, contract negotiation and budget preparation.

Mary Leesa Simmons has joined Cushman & Wakefield/Commercial Advisors as vice president, senior asset manager. Simmons’ duties include contract administration, lease administration, property inspections and assisting in leasing efforts.


Ashley Barbee has joined Gateway Group Personnel as sales and staffing consultant. In her new role, Barbee will be responsible for selling staffing services to clients in the greater Memphis area and sourcing candidates to fill open job opportunities.

Anthony DiNolfo has joined Renaissance Group Inc. as an intern architect. DiNolfo graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. Prior to joining Renaissance, he worked in the construction industry for more than seven years.


Deadra Arthur has joined Dunavant Logistics Group LLC as logistics services and operations administrator at its Memphis headquarters. Arthur will work primarily in the agricultural export services department. She previously served Allenberg Cotton Co. for eight years as international logistics coordinator, international customer service manager and international account manager.

Archer-malmo has announced seven recent hires: Kate Hedstrom, joining the account service team; Charlie Harvey, proofreading; Brett Gaither, Matt Brady and Ian Drake, digital; Libby Brawley, operations; and Teresa Johnson, media.

Green Mountain Technology has been named to Gartner’s 2015 list of “Cool Vendors in Supply Chain Services.” The five companies chosen for the report were determined solely by Gartner analysts, who look for innovative, impactful and intriguing companies
