Metal Museum will host Whet Thursday on July 2 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 374 Metal Museum Drive. Attendees can participate in a foundry class, tour the galleries, and enjoy food trucks, cash bar and live music. Cost is free. Visit metalmuseum.org.

Independent Bank Fireworks Spectacular in Downtown Memphis will be held Saturday, July 4, in Mud Island River Park, 125 N. Front St. The park and Mississippi River Museum will open at 10 a.m. Carnival rides and live music begin at 6 p.m., and the fireworks are set to begin at 9:30 p.m. Visit mudisland.com.

City of Germantown will host its Independence Day fireworks extravaganza Saturday, July 4, in Municipal Park, 1900 S. Germantown Road. Activities begin at 5 p.m. with live music, moon bounces, games, crafts and refreshments, followed by a fireworks display at 9:10 p.m. Visit germantown-tn.gov.

Twilight Tuesday, Beale Street Landing’s free outdoor movie series, will feature “Pirates of the Carribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” Tuesday, July 7, at 8:30 p.m. on the roof of Beale Street Landing, 251 Riverside Drive. Memphis Botanic Garden will host a horticulture therapy workshop Thursday, July 9, from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday, July 10, from 7:30 a.m. to noon at MBG, 750 Cherry Road. The workshop is geared to service providers interested in new ways to achieve therapeutic goals and people interested in doing horticultural outreach to special-needs populations.
