DeNeuville Learning Center will host a 17th anniversary open house and reception Thursday, April 16, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at its facility, 190 S. Cooper St. The event will include light hors d’oeuvres and wine, displays by local female artists and art by DLC students. Visit deneu-villecenter.org.

The University of Memphis will invest Dr. M. David Rudd as the university’s 12th president Friday, April 17, at 1:30 p.m. in the Michael D. Rose Theatre, 470 University St. Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam will conduct the swearing-in. Visit memphis.edu.

Art Squared: The Art Festival at Overton Square, hosted by the ArtWorks Foundation, will be held Friday through Sunday, April 17-19, in the south lot at 25 S. Cooper St. The juried show features works in metal, glass, clay, jewelry and more. Hours are Friday 5 pm. to 9 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free. Rock for Water, a concert hosted by Rachel’s Salon & Day Spa to benefit the Tennessee Clean Water Network, will be held Friday, April 17, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Court Square pavilion Downtown. The Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County will host the Bark After Dark Karaoke Dance Party Friday, April 17, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at 409 S. Main St. The party will feature karaoke, dancing, games and more.
