MORRISTOWN, Tenn. (AP) – State officials say a tactical footwear manufacturer locating in Hamblen County is expected to create close to 200 jobs.

Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty announced this week that Original Footwear will invest $10 million in a new manufacturing operation in Morristown that will employ 182 people.

The company specializes in tactical footwear for law enforcement, military and emergency medical technicians.

It has facilities overseas, but as a result of this project, a portion of the company's production will be brought back to the United States and housed in Morristown.

The announcement comes after another footwear company, Wellco Enterprises, announced this summer that it was shutting down its Morristown operation, putting 53 people out of work. Wellco makes military combat footwear.
