Redmont Joins HORNE as Tax Consulting Manager

Richard Redmont has joined HORNE LLP as a tax consulting manager. Redmont, a certified public accountant, has more than 25 years of tax and consulting experience with international firms in the accounting and insurance industries, and has served clients in the manufacturing, retail, distribution, health care and financial services industries. He also served on a national Sarbanes-Oxley team for an international firm.

Who has had the greatest influence on you and why? Aldora Wells – on Earth, she taught me compassion, unconditional love and that “everyone” matters.

What are your goals in your new role? My goals in my new role at HORNE LLP are to bring my years of experience and knowledge to deliver meaningful business solutions to our clients and assist the firm in continuing the tremendous growth of our brand across our footprint.
What do you consider your greatest accomplishment? My greatest accomplishment is being my sons’ dad. Also, it was earning the rank of Eagle Scout.
What do you most enjoy about your work? I enjoy the relationships with both my clients and co-workers and developing solutions to problems.
If you could give one piece of advice to young people, what would it be? Don’t be afraid to follow your dreams! Also, when choosing a job, select the firm/company where you fit in with the people the most, because many times you will spend as much time or more with them as you do your family.
Rebecca Barnett has been elected vice president of the board of directors for the Tennessee Intellectual Property Law Association. Barnett is a registered patent attorney with Stites & Harbison PLLC’s intellectual property and technology service group, serving clients from the firm’s Memphis and Nashville offices.
Rhodes College has presented Benjamin Evans with the Peyton Nalle Rhodes Phi Beta Kappa Prize, the college’s highest academic honor, and Phillip H. McNeill, founder and CEO of Chartwell Hospitality, the Rhodes College Distinguished Service Medal.
Rhodes College has presented graduates Sallie Handley and Landon Webber and Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association Executive Director Sally Jones Heinz with 2014 Algernon Sydney Sullivan Awards, given annually to two graduating seniors and one non-student who have given selflessly to others and the college.
