Chris Popwell has been named the newest partner at Sharp & Robbins Construction, which will now operate as Sharp, Robbins & Popwell LLC. Popwell joined Sharp & Robbins’ Memphis office in 2008 as an estimator/project manager and most recently served as general operations manager of the Nashville office since 2012.

Popwell, who is based in SRP’s Memphis headquarters, serves as managing partner of Nashville-based operations, overseeing office and field-related activities for projects throughout the southeastern U.S. that are managed from that office. He also serves as an estimator/project manager for higher-level clients and complex projects.

POPWELL

Hometown: Prattville, Ala.

Experience: I obtained a bachelor’s degree of civil engineering from Christian Brothers University. I grew up working with my dad, who also owns a construction firm, and I have roughly 20 years of experience.

Family: Single

Favorite quote: “If it was easy, everyone would do it.” – My father

Favorite movie: I’m not sure that I have a favorite movie, but Clint Eastwood is probably my favorite actor.

The sports teams you root for: Alabama Crimson Tide and Indianapolis Colts

Who are your favorite musicians? The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Johnny Cash, Hank Jr.

What talent do you wish you had? I would like to learn how to play the guitar someday.

Who has had the greatest influence on you and why? I would probably say that my dad has had the greatest influence on me, and I contribute the bulk of my construction experience and knowledge to him. The life and career lessons I was taught from a young age molded me into the person I am today.

How has Sharp & Robbins changed since you joined the firm in 2008? We have drastically increased our Nashville market presence. We’ve also expanded our territory from 5 states to 14 states.

What do you consider your greatest accomplishment? Joining Sharp & Robbins as a partner is probably my greatest accomplishment to date.

If you could give one piece of advice to young people, what would it be? Set life and career goals that you would like to achieve. Once you achieve those goals, set new goals.
