Scartozzi Named Sales Director at Hilton Memphis

Heidi Scartozzi has joined the Hilton Memphis, managed by Davidson Hotels & Resorts, as director of sales. Scartozzi is a 15-year hospitality veteran, most recently serving as a regional director of sales for JQH Hotels and Resorts, servicing 13 hotels on the West Coast.

SCARTOZZI

Hometown: Spokane, Wash.

Experience: My hotel career started out in the food and beverage operations, and I witnessed how much fun the salespeople at the hotel had, and I wanted what they had. I moved into catering and eventually moved directly to sales. I have been in a director role for 11 years. The best part of this job is growing people and watching them become successful.

Family: The majority of my family is in Seattle and Spokane, Wash. I have a daughter who is in Wilmington, N.C., finalizing her marine biology and math degree. My fiance and I both work here in Memphis.

Favorite quote: “Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.” – Einstein

Favorite movie: This is a hard question because there are so many. But my favorite book is “Unbroken” by Hillenbrand – amazing!

The sports team(s) you root for: Mariners

What’s playing on your stereo right now? Bach, “Partitas”

Activities you enjoy outside of work: Golf, piano, cooking and reading.

What talent do you wish you had? I wish I could sing.

Who has had the greatest influence on you and why? My fiance, Ghee Alexander. He is one of the highest-quality people I know, and he is always looking for ways to improve, and it pushes me to be better.

What attracted you to the Hilton Memphis? We moved here for a job. We love Memphis!

What are your goals as director of sales? To drive revenue, grow relationships and grow my awesome staff.

What do you consider your greatest accomplishment? My greatest accomplishment is my daughter, Hannah.

What do you most enjoy about your work? Working with the remarkable people, our clients and associates. All of our associates are dedicated in providing excellent service, and it is infectious throughout all of the hotel departments. We really have something special here at the Hilton Memphis. We also just received the award for Top Workplaces in Memphis.

If you could give one piece of advice to young people, what would it be? Be on time, keep a positive attitude, and let your manager know what your goals are in regards to your career.

Dorothy Gunther Pugh, founding artistic director of Ballet Memphis, has been awarded the 2013 Thomas W. Briggs Foundation Community Service Award. The annual award recognizes a Memphian for outstanding leadership and service to the community.

FOWLER

John Fowler has joined Grinder-Haizlip Construction as a project manager. Fowler will provide support in overseeing commercial and industrial construction projects in the tri-state area.

Seven Memphis attorneys have been selected for the Tennessee Bar Association’s 2014 Leadership Law program: Bryce Ashby of Donati Law Firm LLP; Annie Christoff of Bass, Berry & Sims PLC; Chasity Grice of Sharp Legal Group; Earl Houston of Martin, Tate, Morrow & Marston PC; Michelle Kimbril Parks of the U.S. Attorney’s office; Andre Mathis of Glankler Brown PLLC; and Robert Tom of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz PC.

SPARKS

Brenda Sparks has joined Dermatology Realm in Germantown as the medical aesthetic director. In the role, Sparks will provide treatment information and assist in coordination of pre- and post-treatment care and appointments.

Linda Bourgeois and Maryann Holman, owners of the Travel Leaders agency in Memphis, have received a 2013 Travel Leaders Agency of Excellence award. The award honors Travel Leaders franchisees for leadership and business growth.

KACZOROWSKI

Catherine Kaczorowski, an assistant professor in the University of Tennessee Health Science Center anatomy and neurobiology department, has brought more than $737,000 to UTHSC to continue her Alzheimer’s disease research. The funds are part of a National Institute of Aging grant Kaczorowski received while at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.

Four attorneys from FordHarrison LLP’s Memphis office have been named to the Mid-South Super Lawyers 2013 list: Louis P. Britt III, Herbert E. Gerson, Kathryn W. Pascover and David A. Prather.

Inferno has received six 2013 MarCom Awards, including platinum awards in web video/YouTube video, and design (print)/invitation; and gold awards in web video/YouTube video, ads/magazine, marketing/promotion/materials/invitation, and ads/advertising campaign.

The Southwest Tennessee Community College communications and marketing department has received 11 MarCom Awards, including three platinum awards, five gold awards and three honorable mentions. The department also has been awarded a 2013 National Conference for Marketing and Public Relations District 2 Medallion Award.
