Loeb Signs Tenant For Overton Square's Griffin House
By Bill Dries
The newest tenant in the Overton Square entertainment district has signed a lease in the lone reminder of the area’s residential days.
Robata Ramen &Yakitori Bar, a restaurant owned by Jimmy Ishi, the owner of Sekisui restaurants, will open in what is known as the Griffin House.
The house remained the district’s one residential property even during its heyday in the 1970s and 1980s.
The 1,526 square foot house at 2116 Madison was later joined to the old Paulette’s restaurant. Loeb Properties Inc., which is developing the district anew, reseparated the house from Paulette’s as it began leasing up spaces.
The concept for the restaurant is a bar and grill that serves skewers of grilled meat and vegetables, according to a press release Tuesday from Ishi’s company.
Chefs will serve customers with an oar at a bar bringing a Japanese custom to the experience.
The restaurant will feature seating on the front porch and the patio in the front yard.
