Memphis-based Phoenix Unequaled Home Entertainment is up for a prominent industry award, one that’s part of the Consumer Electronics Association’s Mark of Excellence System Integrator Awards program.

The company, which specializes in providing solutions for home theater, home automation, systems integration and more, has been named a finalist in the awards program, presented by the CEA’s TechHome Division.

The Consumer Electronics Association is a trade association of more than 2,000 companies that promotes growth in the $206 billion U.S. consumer electronics industry. Phoenix, which was founded in 1994 by Scott Fuelling, has been named a finalist in the CEA program’s category of Home Theatre/Media Room Project of the Year.

The awards program recognizes the best in custom integration and installed technology. Custom installers are encouraged to submit entries among 14 different categories ranging from security to energy management, lighting and universal design to complete home projects.

The Home Theatre/Media Room Project of the Year honor distinguishes the installation of the best entertainment system, and it considers everything from the initial design to the theater’s completion.

Other criteria considered include the addition of systems like video display, surround sound, control and integration with the room’s existing environmental systems.

“We worked hand in hand with Cinema Design Group (International) to ensure the interior of the theater was on par with the reference grade electronics designed for the room,” Fuelling said of the project for which Phoenix is up for the award.

Award submissions are collected and reviewed by experts including manufacturers, members of the trade press and systems integrators. Winners will be announced at the 2013 International Consumer Electronics Show at a reception in January in Las Vegas.

Snagging the prize would be the latest in a string of recent honors for Phoenix, which recently was named to the Control4 Million Dollar Club. That entity includes dealers who’ve notched more than $1 million in product sales.

Among its other recent accomplishments, Phoenix earlier this year was named to the 2012 CE Pro 100 List of leading companies for the 15th straight year.

CE Pro is an industry publication written for installing professionals who recommend, choose, or buy technology-related products for homeowners, homebuilders and owners of small- and medium-sized businesses.

Last year, Phoenix expanded into Nashville, partnering with industry veteran Brian Warford to help establish the Phoenix brand there. Fuelling said at the time the company had looked at the Nashville market for opportunities for several years.

Phoenix specializes in providing technology solutions to satisfy the security, entertainment and convenience needs of its mostly residential clients. That could involve setting up such products as theater systems, lighting controls, security cameras and computer networks.

And in addition to award-winning solutions and service, the company also is frequently sought out for manufacturer product testing and consultations.
