EAST

Kendra East has joined Carriage Crossing as marketing coordinator. East’s new responsibilities include creating and implementing the lifestyle center’s yearly marketing budget, spearheading onsite events and leading merchant communication.

Hometown: Memphis

Work experience: I worked in the marketing departments for Wolfchase Galleria and Oak Court Mall, both owned by Simon Property Group.

Family: Married to Douglas East with three children, Kristina, 14, Devon, 5, and Nathaniel, 2. It’s never quiet in our house.

Favorite quote: “Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.” – Albert Einstein

Favorite movie: “Overboard” with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. I love bad movies.

The sports team you root for: It used to be the Indianapolis Colts, but now that Peyton Manning is a Bronco I guess I’ll be rooting for a new team this year.

What’s playing on your stereo right now? Whatever is playing on Pandora at the time.

Activities you enjoy outside of work: Playing with my children and traveling whenever we get a chance.

What talent do you wish you had? Singing! My voice is so terrible that my 2-year-old tells me to stop singing when we are in the car.

Who has had the greatest influence on you? My older sister Kristan has had the biggest influence on me. She was the first one to teach me hard work will pay off in the end.

What attracted you to Carriage Crossing? Carriage Crossing is such a unique destination and my first involvement with a lifestyle center. I’m excited at the prospect of working for a place that offers so many diverse experiences - from open-air shopping to family-friendly events. This is an excellent opportunity for me.

What are your goals as marketing coordinator? My goal is to increase the number of shoppers at Carriage Crossing and to implement new events that have not been done at any other shopping center in the Mid-South.

What do you consider your greatest accomplishment? My greatest accomplishment is the hard work that got me where I am today. When I first started working in the retail industry I started off as a customer service representative and have worked my way up to managing the marketing department. It’s a huge accomplishment and a great feeling.

What do you most enjoy about your work? There is always something different to do every day. I’m not just sitting in front of a computer all day doing reports.

If you could give one piece of advice to young people, what would it be? Finish school and enjoy your summer vacations.
