Commercial Advisors Turns 20, Expands Office
By Sarah Baker
Cushman & Wakefield/Commercial Advisors LLC celebrates 20 years of serving clients in the Memphis community this year and has recently expanded its East Memphis office.
Founded by Larry Jensen and Wyatt Aiken in 1992, the business has grown to 18 brokerage professionals with 48 total employees providing real estate services to clients locally, regionally and globally.
“Our growth has been based on a team concept and building an environment for personal growth, collaboration, and service to our clients and community,” Jensen said in a statement. “Twenty years has flown by, and I am so proud to be associated with people who care and exercise that belief daily.”
Commercial Advisors was formed to assist, advise and support corporations, families, and institutions in the area of operational facilities and real estate needs. As the company began to grow, it created complementary service lines to its core business.
In 2002, Commercial Advisors’ asset management division, Commercial Advisors Asset Services, was formed by Weston real estate veterans Mark Jenkins and Dan Wahl and is now led by principal Kemp Conrad. This division has since grown to lease and/or manage a portfolio of more than 23 million square feet.
Commercial Advisors has expanded this year to include capital markets, debt and equity, and development services, as well as farmland and recreational property advisory and sales. Capital Markets is led by principal Shane Soefker, a Memphis native and former senior managing director of Cushman & Wakefield’s South Florida offices.
In 2010, the firm moved into 6,863 square feet at Clark Centre, 5101 Wheelis Drive, and quickly started to outgrow its new space. From 2011 to 2012, the firm added 11 employees, a combined growth of nearly 30 percent.
Commercial Advisors recently expanded by 725 square feet, bringing its total footprint to 7,588 square feet. The firm also renovated a portion of its current space to create a more collaborative environment.
“Ear buds are the new walls in a portion of our space,” Conrad said. “Our Capital Markets, Industrial Asset Services, and Global Portfolio Solutions team can now communicate more effectively, efficiently and in real time to serve our mutual clients.”
