Gatewood Named Marketing Dir. At Methodist Healthcare

Megan Gatewood has been promoted to marketing director at Methodist Healthcare. In her new role, Gatewood is responsible for developing and overseeing marketing strategies for Methodist’s adult hospitals, outpatient services and physician practices.

GATEWOOD

Hometown: Memphis

Education and work experience: Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing management from the University of Memphis; started my marketing career at the Memphis Redbirds, spent a year in the assisted-living market and have now been with Methodist since 2005.

Family: Married with our first baby on the way!

Favorite movie: “A Few Good Men”

The sports team(s) you root for: University of Memphis. Go Tigers!

What’s playing on your stereo right now? Most likely country music.

Activities you enjoy outside of work: Spending time with friends and family.

What talent do you wish you had? I wish I had better culinary skills.

Who has had the greatest influence on you? I’ve been very fortunate to have great mentors throughout my career. I’ve learned so much from watching great leaders in action. Personally, my husband is amazing and reminds me to enjoy life and not take things so seriously.

What attracted you to Methodist Healthcare? Methodist is such a well-respected organization in our area, and I’m proud to be a part of a company that truly lives our mission and values.

What are your goals as marketing director? I’m always looking for ways to stay ahead of the curve, whether that’s through online advertising strategies or enhanced physician marketing strategies. The marketing field, especially in health care, is always evolving.

What do you consider your greatest accomplishment? A happy marriage and a great career.

What do you most enjoy about your work? I’ve been at Methodist Healthcare for seven years, and I love the variety that comes with a corporate marketing position. In health care, the work is especially interesting and also gives you the opportunity to feel like you are making a difference.

If you could give one piece of advice to young people, what would it be? Find an internship in a field you think you want to pursue as a career. My summer internships during college were invaluable and helped guide my career path in marketing.

James Simpson has joined Askew Hargraves Harcourt & Associates Inc. as civil engineer. Chris Reeves has joined as senior civil engineer. Valerie Dunn has joined as construction administration specialist. And Jeffery Maidens has joined as construction field inspector.

Kelly Harrison has been named account manager at Signature Advertising. Harrison previously worked with Travelocity and Orbitz. Kinon Keplinger has joined Signature’s production department. Keplinger is a graduate of North Carolina School of the Arts. And Joe Walz has been promoted to assistant account manager. Walz previously worked at Twisted South Magazine.

LOISEAU

Dr. Jean-Claude Loiseau has joined Methodist Healthcare. Loiseau, a surgeon specializing in general surgery, laparoscopic surgery and breast surgery, has practiced medicine at Methodist South Hospital for 12 years.

GILMORE

Margaret Gilmore, Shelby County Schools curriculum/fine arts supervisor, has been named the Tennessee Department of Education’s supervisor of the year for West Tennessee. She is also one of nine finalists for the statewide supervisor of the year award.

Signature Advertising has been recognized with two 2012 Telly Awards for the animated product videos it developed for the Hammermill Papers brand of International Paper.

The Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants Memphis Chapter has named its 2012-2013 officers. They are: Mark W. McBryde, president; William Greg Gillaspie, president-elect; Anna P. Howell, vice president of membership; Cherry L. Blanton, president of programs; Patsy L. Jones, secretary; and Michael D. Johnson, treasurer. In addition, David A. Curbo, J. Steve Davis and John M. Griesbeck have been appointed to chair TSCPA statewide committees.

THOMPSON

Suzanne Thompson has joined the University of Tennessee Health Science Center communications and marketing department as media relations and communications specialist. Thompson is a longtime freelance writer and reporter.

Donna Morley has joined archer-malmo inc. as production manager. Mary Marshall and Michelle Menezes have joined as account coordinators. And Ashley High has been promoted to senior digital strategist.

The Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants Memphis Chapter has appointed new board members. They are: Stacy S. Chow; Sadie S. Hall; Frank B. Horrell; Anne M. Hull; Rebecca K. James; Christi Johnson; Loralee A. McFaul; Lindsey M. Simpson; Virginia L. Szalay; Jeree L. Wheat; and Jonathan C. Wright.

Kevin Malone, principal of Bellevue Middle School, has been named a finalist for Tennessee principal of the year by the Tennessee Department of Education. Malone has been principal of Bellevue since 2003.
