The Daily News’ offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 5, in observance of Labor Day. Offices reopen at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, and will remain open during normal business hours.

The Greater Memphis Chamber will present “HobNob: Politics in the Park” Wednesday, Sept. 7, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the AutoZone Park courtyard, 200 Union Ave. Attendees can mingle with elected officials and political candidates and enjoy barbecue and beer. The Church Health Center will hold a free congregational health promoter class starting Tuesday, Sept. 6, and continuing through the following eight Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Church Health Center Wellness, 1115 Union Ave. The class helps people start or strengthen a health ministry in their congregation. The J.K. Lewis Senior Center & Shelby County Books from Birth will hold a book sale Thursday, Sept. 8, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday, Sept. 9, and Saturday, Sept. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the senior center, 1188 North Parkway.
