Methodist North Hospital will host a free seminar on heart attack symptoms Tuesday, May 31, at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Total Joint Center Classroom at the hospital, 3690 Covington Pike. Dr. Matthew Smolin, cardiologist at the Sutherland Cardiology Clinic, will speak. To register, call 888-777-5959.

Memphis Claims Association will meet Tuesday, May 31, at 5:15 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Select Memphis East, 5795 Poplar Ave. The program will discuss the Shelby County Emergency Management Association. Cost is $25 for members and $35 for nonmembers.

The Alliance for Nonprofit Excellence will hold a workshop Wednesday, June 1, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at its office, 5100 Poplar Ave., suite 502. Participants will become familiar with the basic principles of grant writing and the tools needed for successful proposals.
