The Downtown Memphis Commission will hold a public-sector focus group meeting as part of the Downtown Memphis Design Guidelines and Sign Code update Thursday, Aug.18, at noon in the DMC conference room, 114 N. Main St. For more information, call 575-0540.

SEE Main Street will celebrate its fifth anniversary with a fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Foundation during the Third Thursday Block Party Thursday, Aug. 18, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the optometry practice, 103 S. Main St. The event is $10, open to the public and will include food, Ghost River Brewing Co. beer and giveaways, as well as a trunk show hosted by a representative from Ray-Ban.

The Downtown Memphis Commission will hold a public workshop Thursday, Aug. 18, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at BRIDGES, 477 N. Fifth St. Participants in the workshop will have the opportunity to help set the vision for the new Downtown Design Guidelines and Sign Code through hands-on exercises and small-group activities. Rock for Love 5, the fifth annual benefit concert for the Church Health Center, will be held Thursday, Aug. 18, through Sunday, Aug. 21, at the Hi-Tone Cafe, 1913 Poplar Ave. A free evening show will be held Tuesday, Aug. 19, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Cooper-Young gazebo, 2152 Young Ave., and a free day party Saturday, Aug. 20, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Shangri-La Records, 1916 Madison Ave. For more information, visit www.churchhealthcenter.org or www.hitonememphis.com.

The Rotary Club of Memphis Central will meet Friday, Aug. 19, from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Holiday Inn University of Memphis, 3700 Central Ave. Scott Blake, executive director of Victorian Village Inc., will speak about historic sites in Memphis. Visible Music College will host a free concert Friday, Aug. 19, at 7 p.m. at its new Downtown Memphis campus, 200 Madison Ave. The concert will feature Sara Jo and Yungtown from the college’s “It’s Love” summer tour and is open to the public. Theatre Memphis will hold an audition class for musicals Saturday, Aug. 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the theater, 630 Perkins Road Extended.
