The Downtown Parking Authority will meet Thursday at 9 a.m. in the Center City Commission conference room, 114 N. Main St.

The Tennessee Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration will hold a conference Thursday and Friday at the Doubletree Hotel, 185 Union Ave. Memphis Mayor A C Wharton Jr. will speak at 9:30 a.m. Thursday and Lisa May, vice president of resource and development at Memphis-based Data Facts, will discuss “Social Networks and Employment Screening – Treasure or Trouble” at 11 a.m. For more information, visit www.tshhra.org.

The Memphis Brooks Museum of Art will present Art and a Movie Thursday at the museum, 1934 Poplar Ave. The event will include making art from recycled material at 6 p.m. and a screening of the Oscar-nominated “Waste Land” at 7 p.m. For more information or tickets, call 544-6208.

The University of Memphis will hold an information session for the general public about the renovation of its Central Avenue parking lot Thursday at 6 p.m. in the University Center’s Fountain View Room on campus.

The Crescent Club Growth Strategies Group will meet Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Crescent Club, 6075 Poplar Ave. Philip Johnson and Tom Merriam, partners at Argyle Benefits Consultants, will speak. Cost is $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers. For reservations, call 684-1010.

The Rotary Club of Memphis Central will meet Friday from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Chickasaw Country Club, 3395 Galloway Ave. The meeting will include the annual character achievement awards honoring local teens who have overcome adversity. The Brooks Museum of Memphis will host Brooks Uncorked Friday at 7 p.m. at the museum, 1934 Poplar Ave. The evening will include food from local restaurants, more than 60 wines, a silent auction and live musical entertainment from DJ Raiford. For more information, call 544-6209.
