SunTrust Banks Names President to Added COO Role
ATLANTA (AP) – SunTrust Banks Inc. said Tuesday it named President William H. Rogers to the additional role of chief operating officer.
Rogers, 52, has served as SunTrust's president since 2008. In his new role, Rogers will assume responsibility for SunTrust's technology department. He will continue overseeing the company's consumer banking and mortgage divisions, among others.
"This action by the board of directors is consistent with our ongoing management planning and development process at SunTrust," said Chairman and CEO James M. Wells III. "This expansion of his responsibilities underscores the important roles that technology and innovation play in banking operations today and in the future."
Rogers began his career in 1980 in the commercial bank training program at Trust Company of Georgia, a SunTrust predecessor.
