NASHVILLE (AP) - The Legislature's Black Caucus has lodged a complaint with House Speaker Jimmy Naifeh about a Republican member's exclusion of a Democratic lawmaker who wanted to co-sponsor an anti-abortion resolution.

Rep. Nathan Vaughn, a Kingsport Democrat, says he tried earlier this week to sign onto the measure sponsored by Rep. Dolores Gresham, but she refused to let him.

The Somerville Republican said the resolution had been killed down party lines in the past and she wanted to be particular about who signed onto it.

But the caucus wants her to publicly apologize to him.

The resolution would change the state's constitution to allow more limits on abortion. It failed in a House subcommittee this week.
