Rowland Rises to Vice Chancellor Post at UTHSC

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center has appointed Steve Rowland as assistant vice chancellor for business. He is responsible for overseeing and administering the Business Services Unit and auxiliary services such as printing, mail services and student housing. Rowland holds a Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) designation from the Institute for Supply Management.

Jeffery L. Thomason has been named chief manager of the financial advisory firm Watkins Uiberall PLLC. Thomason graduated from the University of Alabama in 1987 with an accounting degree. He joined Watkins Uiberall (then Watkins and Keenan) in 1990. Thomason is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA).

Michelle Hope, an English teacher at Wooddale High School, was the January recipient of the $500 One Class at a Time grant established by the Memphis Area Teachers' Credit Union and Eyewitness News to help teachers in the area fund classroom activities and special projects. Hope is a first-year teacher at Wooddale whose project proposal was a magazine entirely written, edited and designed by her 11th grade students.

Thompson & Berry Public Relations has promoted Abby More to account executive. More, a native of Worcester, England, received a bachelor's degree in journalism and public relations in 2002 and a master's degree in education in 2005, both from the University of Memphis. She has worked as an account coordinator for Thompson & Berry since 2005.

Courtney Noles has been named account coordinator at Signature Marketing Solutions, the second largest advertising agency in Memphis. Before her promotion, Noles was an account service intern for Signature for more than a year. She received a bachelor's degree in journalism and a minor in English from the University of Memphis in 2006.

Trustmark Bank has promoted Brian Abraham to assistant vice president and commercial real estate loan officer at the North Region corporate office. Alisha Jordan has joined Trustmark as branch manager at the Riverdale location.

Rocket Science Design has announced new hires Michael Nunn as marketing director and Andy McFarland as senior programmer. Nunn previously worked as a graphic designer and account executive for Joyce Signs. He received his bachelor's degree in graphic design from the University of Memphis in 2004. McFarland was a programmer for Blue Logic Design before joining Rocket Science. Rocket Science also has promoted Lisa Reeves to financial manager. She earned her bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in 2000.

Andrea Bond Johnson has joined the Memphis office of AXA Advisors LLC as a financial professional. In this position, she will help individuals and businesses plan financial goals and strategize financial success. Johnson also owns her own business, Golden Circle Insurance Agency Inc. She received a bachelor's degree in business management from Tennessee State University in 1989 and an executive master's of business administration from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in 2004.

Butler, Snow, O'Mara, Stevens & Cannada PLLC has received the Hinds County Bar Association's Law Firm Diversity Leadership Award in recognition of the firm's support of the HCBA Diversity Roundtable Conference in Jackson, Miss. Butler Snow has more than 150 attorneys with offices in Jackson, Memphis and on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Landmark Community Bank has named Mike Palazzolo as the community bank president for the Germantown market. Palazzolo has worked in the Germantown area for more than 19 years. He is the treasurer of the Germantown Area Chamber of Commerce, president of the Arthur/Riggs Neighborhood Association, a member of the Liberty Bowl Board of Directors and a City of Germantown alderman.

Dr. Barret G. Haik was inducted as president of the New York Ophthalmological Society in January. Haik is chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center as well as director of the UT Hamilton Eye Institute.
