Memphis Area Legal Services Board Elects Matthews as VP

Antonio "Toney" Matthews

The Memphis Area Legal Services' board of directors has elected Antonio "Toney" Matthews to serve as its vice president. Matthews is an attorney with Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz PC and is a member of the Defense Research Institute, the Tennessee Defense Lawyers Association and the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility Hearing Committee.

Scott B. Shanker has joined Bass, Berry & Sims PLC as an associate in the firm's health care practice area. He previously worked as an attorney with Armstrong Allen PLLC.

Jason D. Nowlin has joined Apperson, Crump & Maxwell PLC as an associate. Nowlin received a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of North Alabama in 1996. He received his law degree from the University of Memphis' Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in 2003.

Tricia K. Greenberger has joined the Greater Memphis Arts Council as chief financial officer. Greenberger previously served as vice president of replenishment at AutoZone Inc. She received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Emory University in 1990.

The Memphis chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators has elected the following officers for the 2006-2007 term: Betsy Widdop, president; Frances Lawson, president-elect; LeaRaya Cole, vice president (education); Judy Chunn, past president (membership); Johnnie Huckelberry, secretary; and Becky Boone, treasurer.

Brian Axe has joined Memphis Motorsports Park as corporate account executive in ticket sales. Axe previously worked with the Denver Broncos' ticket sales department. He graduated from Ohio University with a bachelor's degree in sports sciences in 2005. Don Latham also has joined the racetrack as facilities manager. Latham previously worked in integrated facility management for Johnson Controls and Provident.

John Jernigan, special projects engineer for Ellers, Oakley, Chester & Rike Inc., has been named the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers Memphis chapter's 2006 Outstanding Engineer of the Year. Jernigan has worked at EOCR for 41 years, most recently serving as vice president and civil transportation director.

Kevin Miller has been named creative director of strategy at Signature Advertising LLC. Miller received a bachelor's degree in journalism from Iowa State University in 1990. He formerly worked as a senior copywriter. Brad Anderson has joined Signature as an account manager. He previously worked as a retail account manager at The Commercial Appeal. Anderson received a bachelor's degree in graphic design from the University of Memphis in 1998.

Danielle Worley has been promoted to senior account executive at Thompson & Co. Previously an account executive for the agency's First Tennessee account, she will continue to work closely with bank personnel in strategic brand development and the day-to-day execution of its marketing campaign.

Joseph Davis has joined Thompson & Co. as a junior account executive. Davis will serve as the liaison in the development and management of client programs for accounts such as Belz Enterprises Inc., First Tennessee and TrackCouture. He also will assist in the BottleRocket Sports and Entertainment Marketing division of Thompson & Co.

Rebecca Strell has been promoted to account executive at Thompson & Co. She previously worked as a media planner.

Kemper B. Durand, a partner in the firm of Thomason, Hendrix, Harvey, Johnson and Mitchell PLLC, has been named to Business Tennessee magazine's "The Best 150 Lawyers in Tennessee" in the criminal defense category.
