The Better Business Bureau of the Mid-South will present a breakfast series session titled “Classifying & Paying Your Employees” today from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Better Business Bureau, 3693 Tyndale Drive. For reservations, contact Nancy Crawford at 757-8627 or ncrawford@bbbmidsouth.org.

Councilman Shea Flinn will hold a public meeting today at 4 p.m. in the Memphis City Council Chambers, 125 N. Main St. Flinn will discuss possible mandatory spay/neuter laws and alternatives. The meeting audio will also be streamed live and archived on the Memphis City Council Web site.

The University of Memphis will host guest speaker Edward J. Larson today at 7 p.m. in the Rose Theatre Entertainment Lobby. The lecture will be based on Larson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book, “Summer for the Gods: The Scopes Trial and America’s Continuing Debate Over Science and Religion.”

The Center City Development Corporation Board of Directors will meet Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the CCC conference room, 114 N. Main St.
