The Mid-South Peace and Justice Center will hold a gala and banquet celebrating its 28th anniversary today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bridges, 477 N. Fifth St. Daphene R. McFerren, director of the Benjamin L. Hooks Institute for Social Change at the University of Memphis, and Dr. Ken Reardon, director of the graduate program in City and Regional Planning at the University of Memphis, will be the keynote speakers. The Shelby County Women and Civil Rights will hold a panel discussion Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library, 3030 Poplar Ave. The program is free and open to the public. For more information, call 415-2700.

The Grand Opening Celebration of the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law will be held Saturday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the new school, 1 N. Front St. The grand opening event will include live music, food, drinks and tours. Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association will honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a birthday celebration Monday at 10 a.m. at its Midtown headquarters, 910 Vance Ave. The event is free and open to the public and will include music, a keynote address by Bartholomew Orr, senior pastor at Brown Missionary Baptist Church, cake and volunteers will participate in a special holiday meals delivery. Rhodes College will present “Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.: An Evening of Reflection” Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the McCallum Ballroom. The evening will include presentations and readings.
