The Memphis Brooks Museum of Art will host screenings of John Michael McCarthy’s film “Cigarette Girl” today and Saturday at 1 p.m. at the museum, 1934 Poplar Ave. Cost is $5 for members and $7 for nonmembers.

The Dixon Gallery and Gardens will host Wine Down at the Dixon today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Dixon, 4339 Park Ave. Cost is $20 for members and $30 for nonmembers. For more information, call 761-5250.

RiverArts Fest will host its Sneak Peak Party today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Huling Row and South Main Street. There will be a band, drinks, artist booths and gallery tours. Cost is free but donations are accepted. For more information, visit www.riverartsfestmemphis.org.

The Fifth Annual Virginia Davis Memorial Walk/Run for Lupus will be held Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the Overton Park Pavilion. All proceeds will be donated to the Lupus Foundation of America, Memphis Area Chapter Inc. Preregistration is $15 and registration the day of the walk is $20. Memphis City Schools will hold regional information meetings with Superintendent Kriner Cash Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Wooddale Middle School, 3467 Castleman St. and from noon to 4 p.m. at Bellevue Middle School, 575 S. The Southeastern Indian Heritage Festival will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the C.H. Nash Museum at Chucalissa, 1987 Indian Village Drive. The festival will consist of Native American games, food and artisans selling and demonstrating their crafts. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for members. For more information, call 785-3160.

The Arc of the Mid-South’s 14th Annual Benefit Gala will be held Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Hilton Memphis, 939 Ridge Lake Blvd. Shelby County Mayor A C Wharton Jr. will give the keynote address. Joe Birch of Action News 5 will be the moderator.

Opera Memphis will host a 2009-2010 Season Preview Gala Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Clark Opera Memphis Center, 6745 Wolf River Parkway. Dinner and a silent auction will be served at 8 p.m. A complimentary full beverage bar will open at 7 p.m. The gala will feature excerpts from upcoming shows and The Dempseys will perform. The South Main Association will host Oktoberfest Sunday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Harry’s Detour Courtyard, 106 G.E. Patterson Ave. Circa by John Bragg will cater and Bosco’s Brewery will provide the beer. Cost is $15 for guests and free for members.
