Memphis Heritage Inc. will hold its 2009 Memphis Heritage Calendar Release Party in collaboration with a Fashion Trunk Show by Stacie Waddell’s Blu Champagne today from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Howard Hall, 2282 Madison Ave. There will be a sneak preview of the latest vintage photography collection, “Newman’s Memphis,” by the late local photographer Don Newman. Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association will sponsor its fourth annual oratorical contest for students currently attending school in Memphis and Shelby County between the ages of 14 and 18. The contest topic is titled “As it Pertains to Dr. King’s Dream, What is the Significance of the 2008 Presidential Election?” To enter, applicants must submit a completed application, letter of recommendation, a two-minute essay and verification of a 2.5 or higher grade point average. The St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend will be held Saturday.
