The Memphis Regional Chamber will host a breakfast forum today from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at The Hilton Memphis, 939 Ridge Lake Blvd. Jerry Collins, president and CEO of Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division, will speak about “EmPowering the City.” The event is $20 for chamber members and $30 for nonmembers. The Alliance for Nonprofit Excellence will host “Researching Grant Funding” Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Alliance’s offices, 606 S. Mendenhall Road, Suite 108. The Memphis Potters’ Guild will host an opening reception for its Annual Spring Show & Sale Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Memphis Botanic Garden, 750 Cherry Road. The Memphis Music Foundation will hold the dedication and grand opening of the Memphis Music Resource Center (MMRC) Friday at 431 S. Main St. The center will be open to the public that night from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The MMRC is a work- and business-development center dedicated to serving Memphis musicians and music industry entrepreneurs.
The American Cancer Society will hold the Zodiac Ball 2008 Saturday at The Peabody at 149 Union Ave. The event, honoring Dr. Lee Schwartzberg, will remember “The Summer of Love,” with musical entertainment, silent and live auctions and dinner.
