The Memphis Bar Association will sponsor Law Week 2008 through May 1. The Law Week Launch Party will be today at 5 p.m. in Court Square. Barbecue, live music and refreshments will be provided. The Exchange Club Family Center will hold its "5K Race for Hopes and Dreams" Saturday at Overton Park. The race will kick off at 9 a.m., followed by a 9:05 start for the 1-mile Family Walk. Overton High School will host its 10th annual art fair Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the school, 1770 Lanier Lane. Art created by students from Colonial, Willow Oaks, Rozelle and Sea Isle elementary schools, American Way Middle and Overton High will be display to highlight the "Celebrate the Arts" theme. The event is free and open to the public.
Playhouse on the Square will host its 31st Annual Original Art Auction Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at the Playhouse, 51 S. Cooper St. A live auction will begin at 6:30 p.m., and an all-day silent auction will take place and close throughout the live auction. A buffet will be available for $25. Askew Nixon Ferguson Architects and the Ronald McDonald House of Memphis will host the 20th Anniversary Mid-Town Rhythm and Blues Party, or the Architect's Party, Saturday at 8:30 p.m. at ANFA, 1500 Union Ave. Food, drinks and live music will be provided. The Memphis Regional Chamber will hold its 2008 Golf Invitational May 5. The scramble will begin with registration at 8:30 a.m. at Spring Creek Ranch. The format is a four-person scramble.
