Nelson Inc., developer of the Family Dollar Building at 94
S. Main St., is scrapping plans to turn the building into a boutique hotel and
returning to an original proposal to develop it into condominiums, Center City
Commission president Jeff Sanford said at a Center City Development Corp.

Medical Launches
Foot
and Ankle Products
Arlington-based Wright Medical Group Inc. has announced the commercial launch
of the Charlotte Foot & Ankle System, a series of next-generation fixation
products for foot and ankle surgery. The company initially will offer the
system domestically through its U.S. distributors and sales staff.
Buckman Recognized
by National Gypsum Co.
National Gypsum Co. has named Memphis-based Buckman Laboratories as Supplier of
the Year for its gypsum and paper business units. Buckman earned the award for
its work with NGC's Pryor, Okla., paper plant, for which it supplies several
chemicals used in the paper production process.
Fire Department Gets
Grant for Equipment, Programs
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has awarded
$404,194 to the Shelby County Fire Department under the 2004 Assistance to
Firefighters Grant Program. The program helps local fire departments purchase
equipment, fund health and safety programs, enhance emergency medical services
and conduct fire prevention programs.
