MAAR Inducts Officers, Names Realtor Award Winners

The Memphis Area Association of Realtors announced the following 2004 award winners: Lee McWaters of McWaters & Associates, Realtor of the Year; Sally Isom of Prudential Collins-Maury Inc., Realtor-Associate of the Year; and Cathy Anderson of AmeriSpec Home Inspection Services, Affiliate of the Year. Presidential awards were presented to Jerry Modesto of Crye-Leike, Mary W. Sharp of A-Z Affordable Properties, Joe Steffner of Steffner Commercial Real Estate and the late Frank Donato, 2004 president of the MAAR Education Foundation.


Valerie Ann Spicer joined in membership with the Law Office of Arnold M. Weiss. As a result, the practice which focuses on foreclosure and bankruptcy law for financial institutions and the mortgage banking industry now operates as Weiss Spicer PLLC. Spicer earned bachelors and law degrees from the University of Memphis.


R. Marc Jordan, president and chief executive officer of the Memphis Regional Chamber, was elected to the position of chairman-elect of the American Chamber of Commerce Executives for 2004-2005 and chairman for 2005-2006.


Reynolds, Bone & Griesbeck PLC announced the promotion of Sandra D. Clifton to tax manager and Ross W. Braswell to firm technology manager. Mary Ann Lee and Brenda H. Eldridge joined the companys accounting and auditing staff.


Dr. James C. Fleming, a professor of ophthalmology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, was elected president of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Fleming is past president of the Memphis Eye Society, Tennessee Academy of Ophthalmology, Memphis and Shelby County Medical Society and Tennessee Medical Association.


Berl Bren Olswanger III joined the Hewgley Law Firm. Olswanger formerly served as an assistant district attorney for the 30th Judicial District of Tennessee.


Randall D. Noel was named to the Tennessee Supreme Court Historical Societys board of directors. Noel has been an attorney with Armstrong Allen PLLC for 27 years.


David Williams joined Wealth Strategies Group as an associate. Williams has more than 20 years of experience as a certified financial planner.


Daniel Turner joined Signature Advertising as art director. Turner is a graduate of the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Previously, he served as an intern with the Do It Yourself (DIY) Network and completed projects for Another Large Production and Spike TV.


The Memphis Area Association of Realtors inducted the following officers for 2005: Sue Stinson-Turner, president; William M. Mitchell, president-elect; Jeanene S. Lawhead, vice president; and Regina H. Hubbard, secretary-treasurer. Board of directors members are: Mary J. Baker, Gail L. French, John W. Green, Nancy G. Guy, Stan Holmes, Richard Kelsey, Jerry Modesto, Saeed E. Nia and John A. Snyder.


The following Husch & Eppenberger LLC attorneys were listed in the latest edition of The Best Lawyers in America: S. Russell Headrick and Herbert B. Wolf Jr.


Dr. Brian Sorrentino, director of the experimental hematology division at St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, won the International Society of Experimental Hematologys 2005 McCulloch and Till Lectureship and Award.


Lea Belcer joined Baptist Rehabilitation-Germantown as a staff physical therapist. Belcer previously served as director of the outpatient orthopedic clinic for Meridian Rehabilitation in Denver. She received a bachelors degree from Western State College of Colorado and a masters degree from the University of Colorado.
