Buys Land for $3.8 Million

Parkway Village Holdings LP has purchased 22.74 acres at 2785 Claudette Road near American Way from Madison Park A Corp. for $3.8 million, according to The Daily News Public Records Database, www.memphisdailynews.com.

States for Business Expansion

Tennessee remains among the top five states for businesses looking to relocate or expand their operations, according to a 2004 readers survey conducted by Plants Sites & Parks magazine. The state also was ranked No. 5 in the 2004 BizSites Survey, which measures where companies are actually investing.

 

HUD Announces

Housing Grants

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has announced $1.33 million in service coordinator grants to help Tennessee low-income elderly and disabled residents in federally supported housing with assistance in health care, meals and other support services. Memphis Towers is among the grant recipients, with $339,137 in funds.

 

St. Jude Hospital

Sees Leadership Change

Dr. William Evans assumes the role of director at St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital today after nearly 20 years with the hospital. Evans replaces Dr. Arthur Nienhuis, who held the post for 11 years. St. Jude is in the midst of a $1-billion, five-year expansion program that will more than double the size of its campus.

 

BellSouth Completes

Latin American Transfer
BellSouth Corp. and Telefonica Moviles SA have completed the transfer of BellSouth's ownership interest in wireless operations in five Latin American countries. BellSouth will receive $2.5 billion for its interests in the five properties and recognize a fourth quarter gain of about $385 million.
