Buckeye to Upgrade
Americana, Brazil, Plant
Memphis-based Buckeye Technologies Inc. has announced plans
to invest about $18 million over 18 months at its Americana, Brazil, cotton
cellulose manufacturing plant. The upgrade will enable the facility to produce
a variety of specialty market pulps starting in fall 2005.
International
Paper
to
Acquire Box USA
International Paper Co. has agreed to acquire Northbrook, Ill.-based Box USA
Holdings Inc., a corrugated packaging company, to strengthen its packaging
operations. IP officials said the acquisition will give the company improved
access to markets and better integration between mills and converting plants.
Terms were not disclosed.
Memphis International
Gets $28.6 Million in Grants
The U.S. Department of Transportation has announced that
Memphis International Airport will receive a $6.5 million grant and a
$22.1 million grant to fund runway and taxiway improvements to accommodate
FedEx Corp.s future fleet of A380 aircraft, considered the worlds biggest
cargo plane.
Local Partnership Buys
Collierville Property
The Jason Crews Partnership has purchased part of phase four
of Collierville Marketplace, located near Market Boulevard and West Poplar
Avenue, for $8 million. Hackmeyer-Loeb Joint Venture is the seller.
CCC Board to Discuss
Ongoing Downtown Projects
At its regular monthly meeting at noon Friday, the Center
City Commission board of directors will discuss a sports and entertainment
district task force, Dumpster ordinance and the renovation of Court Square. The
board also will hear a presentation on panhandling.
