St. Louis firm acquires Memphis Hale Headrick

The Daily News

A St. Louis-based law firm announced a financial agreement earlier this week that will add the Memphis law firm of Hale Headrick Dewey Wolf Golwen Thornton & Chance PLLC to its fold.

Husch & Eppenberger LLCs acquisition of the Memphis firms three offices including one in Nashville, Tenn. combined with Husch & Eppenbergers recently opened office in Chattanooga, establish it as one of the largest law firms in Tennessee.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 26 lawyers of Hale Headrick will add to Husch & Eppenbergers existing pool of 285 lawyers. The local firm will change its name.

In our discussion with Husch, we realized they shared our philosophy and vision of providing first-rate legal services to local, regional and national clients in innovative ways, said Hale Headrick managing member Russell Headrick in a released statement.

With over 300 lawyers on staff, we will have the resources to provide a new dimension to legal representation in Tennessee and across the Central United States, Headrick said.

Husch & Eppenbergers Memphis firm will maintain operations in Hale Headricks Downtown office at 200 Jefferson and its East Memphis office at 6060 Poplar Ave.

Six attorneys formed Hale Headrick six years ago. The firm specializes in civil litigation with an emphasis on commercial cases, construction litigation, product liability defense, bankruptcies and personal injury cases, among others.

Joseph Conran, Husch & Eppenbergers management committee chairman, said the company had been looking to expand into the Memphis area for some time.

Upon a clients recommendation, we found exactly what we were looking for in the outstanding group of lawyers at Hale Headrick, a firm that has a dedication to excellence, a compatible practice and a similar client base, he said.

Husch & Eppenberger is an 80-year-old company with Missouri offices in St. Louis, Kansas City and Jefferson City; Illinois offices in Springfield and Peoria; and an office in Wichita, Kan.

The National Law Journal recently ranked Husch & Eppenberger No. 150 out of the nations top 250 law firms. It is a full-service firm engaged in broad-based business transaction and dispute resolution practice.
