Ten Glankler Brown attorneys were selected by lawyers
nationwide for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2002-2003. Louis F.
Allen, Saul C. Belz, John David Blaylock, Robert Grattan Brown Jr., Oscar C.
Carr III, Lee James Chase III, Frank J. Glankler Jr., William T. Mays Jr., J.N.
Raines and C. Barry Ward were selected from the Memphis office. Brown and
Glankler have been included in each edition of the publication since its inception.
The book is in its 20th edition. Carr, Chase and Blaylock have been listed in
10 editions. Less than 3 percent of attorneys nationwide were selected for
inclusion in this years edition.
Arnold E. Perl, a partner in the Memphis law firm Young
& Perl, was selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America. A
nationally recognized labor attorney, Perl is one of 1,880 lawyers listed in
the publication in each of its 20 editions. Perl also was one of only two
attorneys in Tennessee listed in the latest edition of the International Whos
Who of Management Labor and Employment Lawyers. He is chairman of the
Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority and the New Memphis Arena Public
Building Authority, the entity created by Memphis and Shelby County to develop
the FedExForum.

Can Hurt You: Employment Law Issues for Personal Injury Lawyers from 1:30 p.m.
to 4:45 p.m. Friday in the MBA conference room, One Commerce Square, Suite
1050. Speakers Sam L. Crain and Lisa A. Krupicka of Burch, Porter & Johnson
PLLC will discuss the interaction of workers compensation laws with the
Americans with Disabilities Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act, as well
as retaliatory discharge. Cost is $75 for MBA members, $85 for non-members and
$30 for non-attorneys or those who do not need continuing legal education
credit. The seminar offers three hours of general CLE credit.
A replay of the Practising Law Institute video, The New
Disclosure and Corporate Governance Regime Post-Enron: What Corporate and
Securities Lawyers Must Know Now, runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 19 in the
MBA conference room, One Commerce Square, Suite 1050. Viewers will learn about
new measures to improve the effectiveness of corporate governance mechanisms.
Registration fee is $299. This session provides 5.25 hours of general
continuing legal education credit.
