The University of Memphis communications department invited
U.S. Rep. Harold Ford Jr. to speak at the Dr. John Bakke Political
Communication Lecture Series from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 25 in Room 123 of
the Fogelman Executive Center on the U of M campus. This is the inaugural
lecture in the series honoring Bakke, a former chair of the U of M Department
of Communication, founder of the study of political communication within the
department and faculty member for 32 years. Ford authored the Make College
Affordable Act to help families meet rising tuition costs and to create a tax
deduction for higher education expenses. Ford will discuss the recent election,
current world issues, political communication and other issues affecting the
Mid-South.
The Memphis Chapter of the Association of Legal
Administrators monthly membership meeting is noon today at the University Club
of Memphis, 1346 Central Ave. Keith A. Warren, a partner with the law firm Ford
& Harrison, will discuss "Maintaining Positive Internal Law Firm
Relationships Even When Surrounded by Prima Donnas!"
Take a Killer Adverse Deposition, sponsored by the
University of Mississippi Center for Continuing Legal Education, is Dec. 6 at
the Holiday Inn Select, 160 Union Ave. The course has been approved for six
hours of CLE credit in Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee. Registration

The Memphis Chapter of the Institute of Management
Accountants two-hour continuing professional education meeting is from 11:45
a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Fogelman Center Holiday Inn. Buddy Dearman is
the speaker. The cost for lunch and CPE is $20 for members and $30 for

Forty attorneys from Bass, Berry & Sims were selected
for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America. The 2003-2004 edition marks the
20th year of the biennial publication. With a total of 67 Bass Berry partners
statewide, the 40 attorneys listed represent nearly 60 percent of the firms
partnership base. John Good, a corporate and securities attorney in the firms
Memphis office, was included in the publication for the third consecutive time.
